East Baton Rouge Parish School System Scores Show Increase

According to 2008 School Performance Score results released by the Louisiana State Department of Education today, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) showed a steady increase in the average School Performance Score over the last five years. The District Performance Score for EBRPSS also showed an increase over previous years.

EBR Increases % Proficiency In State Measured Performance Indicators

Louisiana fourth and eighth grade students are proficient if they score Advanced, Mastery, or Basic on the LEAP test.  The graphs below show the percent of East Baton Rouge Parish students who scored proficient on the LEAP test over a five-year period.  East Baton Rouge demonstrates a trend of steady improvement in each area. 

Schools Celebrate Their Blue Ribbon Awards With Song, Dance

Two schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS), out of only six in the state, won national Blue Ribbon Schools awards this year.  And their official celebrations got underway Thursday, November 20, with singing, dancing and much more.

National Merit/National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalists

Our School System has the most National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, 18 students from two high schools (Baton Rouge Magnet and McKinley high schools), from the area and the second highest number of semifinalists from school districts statewide.  Finalists will be announced in the spring.

EBRPSS Ranks Second Statewide For Number of New National Certified Teachers

Sixteen (16) teachers in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) earned the prestigious classification of National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).  This places the School System second in the state for new NBCTs and third in the state for total number of NBCTs (117) in a district.
